How are workplace injuries treated?
Injuries on the worksite are generally initially reported to the workplace which then initiates a claim with WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board).
Once a claim is initiated the injured worker seeks a health professionals assessment which leads to a claim submission.
Upon approval of the claim therapy commences with an initial focus on pain control and restoration of mobility.
Transition into a conditioning program is then begun with a focus on reintegration into workplace specific and appropriate movements. Usually a graduated return to workplace duties then takes place.
Should the patient have a private insurance plan separate from WSIB, this can be used as a safety net to commence therapy immediately without waiting for approval from WSIB. We have established and experienced communications with WSIB and awareness of Programs of Care and Functional Abilities Questionnaires regularity used by WSIB.
